學(xué)校概述
    香港大學(xué)，簡稱港大（英語：The University of Hong Kong，HKU），是一所于1910年于香港島成立的大學(xué)，其前身為香港西醫(yī)書院，是香港歷史最悠久的大學(xué)。港大中文校訓(xùn)為“明德格物”，而拉丁文對應(yīng)的校訓(xùn)則為Sapientia Et Virtus。大學(xué)以英語作為教學(xué)語言。自2007年開始，港大被英國THES-QS持續(xù)評為全球前30名的頂尖大學(xué)，位列中華人民共和國第一。香港大學(xué)(港大)多年來一直秉承優(yōu)良傳統(tǒng)，提供卓越的師資及世界級的科研發(fā)展，致力培育社會領(lǐng)袖人才。
    排 名
　　香港大學(xué)是香港其中一所學(xué)術(shù)排名最高的大學(xué)。根據(jù)《亞洲周刊》，香港大學(xué)在2000年于亞洲最佳大學(xué)的排名中位列第三。于亞洲周刊2000年亞洲最佳大學(xué)調(diào)查中香港大學(xué)商學(xué)院的工商管理碩士課程（MBA）于香港中文大學(xué)之后位列第二。
　　香港大學(xué)于《英國泰晤士報》（Times Higher Education Supplement,「泰晤士報高等教育特刊」）2007年的大學(xué)排名中位列全球第十八位。
　　在2008年10月8日公布的最新〈泰晤士報〉高等教育——二零零八全球頂尖大學(xué)排行榜》中，香港大學(xué)排名第二十六名。
在《泰晤士報》（Times Higher Education Supplement,「泰晤士報高等教育特刊」）2009年的大學(xué)排名中位列全球第二十四位。
    校 園
　  校園本部坐落香港島西部的薄扶林道以東、般咸道以南、羅便臣道以西、龍虎山以北，占地約16公頃。醫(yī)學(xué)院現(xiàn)時位于香港瑪麗醫(yī)院對面的沙宣道羅富國教育學(xué)院原址。牙醫(yī)學(xué)院及教育學(xué)院言語及聽覺科學(xué)學(xué)部位于西營盤的菲臘牙科醫(yī)院內(nèi)。另有位于新界的嘉道理農(nóng)業(yè)研究所及香港石澳鶴咀的太古海洋科學(xué)研究所。
    教 研
    現(xiàn)時香港大學(xué)有十個學(xué)院，分別為建筑學(xué)院、文學(xué)院、經(jīng)濟及工商管理學(xué)院、牙醫(yī)學(xué)院、教育學(xué)院、工程學(xué)院、法學(xué)院、醫(yī)學(xué)院、理學(xué)院、社會科學(xué)學(xué)院。其他教學(xué)單位包括研究生院、專業(yè)進(jìn)修學(xué)院、數(shù)碼港學(xué)院及其他不屬任何學(xué)院的教研單位，如亞洲研究中心、佛學(xué)研究中心、新聞及傳媒研究中心等研究中心。
