與德國Saxony州帶薪實習項目已啟動

盧瑟福圖書館是阿爾伯塔大學11間圖書館中最大的分館

    自2010年2月23日起，阿爾伯塔大學的學生將擁有更多的機會以贏得寶貴的在歐洲的國際實習經(jīng)歷。阿爾伯塔大學已與德國Saxony自由州簽訂了官方的實習協(xié)議（co-coperative）。

    德方的負責人Tillich說：此項協(xié)議的簽署為我們與阿爾伯塔大學為期十年的合作建立了極為重要的合作平臺。學生之間的交換互動是協(xié)議中最重要的環(huán)節(jié)，以便于他們在合作國家中實習并獲得寶貴的經(jīng)歷。"

    代表團還參觀了阿爾伯塔著名的國家納米技術(shù)研究所，Tillich說：20年前Saxony在微晶片、納米級生物技術(shù)方面方面還沒有任何經(jīng)驗，而今一切都變了?，F(xiàn)在我們在這三個領域成為德國最強的力量，以此能夠為與阿爾伯塔大學之間的實習協(xié)議更為有益。我們也將學習阿爾伯塔大學在采礦專業(yè)方面的經(jīng)驗，因為在Saxony我們擁有最古老的礦業(yè)大學。學生將利用這些實習機會盡量的互相學習借鑒，在德國我們常說：互相溝通比互相評價要好的多。自今年夏天起，加拿大和德國將各有25名學生成為此項目的第一批候選人。

February 23, 2010 - (Edmonton) Albertan students now have more opportunities to gain valuable international work experience in Europe, because of a new internship agreement signed on Monday at the University of Alberta by officials with the German Free State of Saxony.

"The agreement which has been signed will make a vital platform for enhancing the 10-year relationship we have had with the U of A," said Tillich. "The exchange of students is the most important aspect of this agreement, for them to go to partner countries and get valuable experience."

Students from eight institutions in the province and nine from Saxony will benefit from the internship, which begins this summer, said Carl Amrhein, provost and vice-president (academic).

Baron says 25 students from each country will be the first contingent of students to start the ASIIA program.

"We are giving students from Alberta the opportunity to experience another culture while also gaining work experience, which increases their potential for employment," Baron said. The students will spend up to four months working with private employers or research institutions in Germany and Alberta.

Arya Sharma, U of A endocrinology researcher, medical director of Alberta Health Services'' Weight Wise Program and scientific director of the Canadian Obesity Network, says he was delighted to learn about the agreement because the Saxony-based University of Leipzig will soon receive a major multi-million-euro grant to establish an obesity research and treatment centre.
